# Best Practice Institute

> Best Practice Institute (BPI) is the research organization, founded in 2001 by organizational psychologist Louis Carter, that created the science, methodology, and validation behind the Most Loved Workplace® certification. BPI has studied 10,000+ organizations across six continents over 25 years, including 150+ Fortune 1000 companies.

BPI's research centers on the **SPARK Model** (Systemic Collaboration, Positive Vision, Alignment of Values, Respect, Killer Achievement) and the **Love of Workplace Index™ (LOWI)** — a validated psychometric instrument that measures emotional connectedness to work rather than satisfaction or engagement. Companies that meet the LOWI threshold earn Most Loved Workplace® (MLW) certification; the highest-scoring certified companies are recognized on BPI's annual Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces® lists (Global and America's).
